Thiagarajar College of Engineering (TCE), established in 1957 by philanthropist Late Karumuttu Thiagarajan Chettiar, is a Government Aided Autonomous Institution affiliated with Anna University, Chennai, and approved by AICTE. TCE offers Undergraduate, Postgraduate, and Ph.D. programs in Engineering, Architecture, and Science. Situated in a serene, eco-friendly campus with state-of-the-art infrastructure, TCE embraces continuous reforms in teaching and learning processes. Key initiatives include Competency-Based Curriculum, Outcome-Based Education, and the adoption of the CDIO framework in 2018, providing hands-on training to students. In 2021, TCE introduced Massive Open Online Courses (MOOCs) to enhance digital learning.TCE maintains active collaborations with leading global organizations, resulting in industry-oriented curriculum design, advanced laboratories, professional training programs, internships, and placements. The institution also engages in sponsored research projects funded by AICTE, DST, DRDO, and UGC, supporting innovative technologies and advanced research facilities. TCE's dedication to excellence is further highlighted by the Thiagarajar Research Fellowship (TRF) for Ph.D. scholars and its NAAC accreditation with a CGPA of 3.56 (out of 4.0), earning an A++ Grade in Cycle 2.
The Physics department was established in 1957. In collaboration with another engineering department of TCE, it offers a Ph.D. program in various specializations, such as smart materials, thin film materials, and Nanomaterials. The FIST program of DST, New Delhi, supports the department. The department also collaborates with industries, academic and professional bodies and is actively engaged in many technology development-sponsored projects.
The scientific domain is advancing daily through the discovery of new materials, enabling technological progress from household devices to space endeavors, including coffee makers and lunar rocket launches at the Moon's South Pole. Innovations in new materials at the subatomic level are improving medicine delivery and tailored therapies, while quantum computers and supercomputers are outpacing other advancements. The International Conference on Materials for Electronic, Energy, Biomedical Technologies, Quantum, and Computing (MQUBIT) is a multidisciplinary event that gathers researchers, scientists, academics, and industry professionals globally to discuss recent advancements in Materials Science and Technology, including state-of-the-art Quantum Computing technology.
MQUBIT holds substantial technical importance due to its convergence with multiple advanced research domains, such as flexible electronics and ultrafast computing. Conference attendees will have the opportunity to explore innovative research via keynote addresses, plenary sessions, invited talks, and both oral and poster presentations, thus linking theoretical findings with practical applications. The aims of this MQUBIT conference are threefold: (i) to promote science among young individuals, particularly Master's students, (ii) to motivate science students from diverse disciplines to participate in research within Materials Science, and (iii) to explore novel applications of Applied Materials Science pertinent to Quantum Computing that surpass the capabilities of Artificial Intelligence.
